Hey Guys, I've been on the hunt for this exact model for a long time now. It has to be unmolested and as close to original as I can find. There are a lot of complete basket cases out there, but I'm looking for one in good running condition...maybe an older restoration? This is a big time bucket list item. It was my first car that my dad bought for me in 1971 when I was sixteen. He died just before my high school graduation in 1973. So I have a pretty emotional attachment to this model car and would eventually give it to my son. If anybody out there knows of one I'd appreciate hearing from you. Thanks!

You might want to clarify what you mean by "original". To some that means un-restored, but you indicate that you are OK with one that has been restored.

Good luck!

Not a '68, but close. I have a '71 GT that the previous owner spent over $60,000 restoring. BRG with black interior. OD tranny.

Here's a link where it was covered by Bring a Trailer before I bought it. http://bringatrailer.com/2014/03/26/62k-invested-restored-1971-mgb-gt/

I've added 15" Michelin tires and Minilite-style wheels, original BL radio, NOS Abarth exhaust, Cibie headlights, and several other period-correct finishing touches.

It's as close to a brand new MGB/GT as you'll ever find.

Al, I'll keep you in mind. I just bought a BRG '68 from a lady. The car hasn't run in a couple of years, the interior needs replacing. Needs a minor rust repair in the boot section. Once I get it back on the road I'll know whether I'm keeping it or not.

I'm partial to that year and color GT, although mine hasn't been all BRG in a couple decades. Avatar photo is from it's first and last repaint in 1982! Good luck. Fortunately for you there were quite a few '68 GTs built in BRG.

Al, no, it belonged to a local couple, he passed away, she reached out to our local club to see if she could get find a home for it. I have been thinking about doing a bit of body work and repainting it BRG again, but this time with an Autumn Leaf interior.

Sure you don't want to do it with an original black leather with white piping? Make it worth a lot more....to me at least.

Thanks John for contacting me, but I'm looking for one a bit more "original". Good looking though. Tell your knucklehead son to take it out and run it! It is a head turner. Again thanks, Al
