After some reading and reasearch, I found out that There is not a consensus on what type of oil should we used in our MGAs transmission.
So far I came to this conclusion:
Non detergent Oil 20W/50 to keep soft metals safe (copper and Brass). Now what brand? where to buy?
I have not been able to find a well known brand who stock 20W/50 non detergent oil.
I will appreciate any input.
Thank you all.

Somehow the topic of oils always seems to get contentious.
Non-detergent 20w-50 oil is likely to be a rare find. I use the same oil I use in the engine. For my MGA I use VR1 20w-50. (I vintage race my MGA and change the oil frequently.) For my motorcycle (whose engine shares the oil with the transmission) I use Shell Rotella 15w-40. I also use the Rotella in my Alfa's engines and my F250 diesel (4 gallons/oil change!) so it is easy to keep just the one type on a shelf in my garage. Plus it is not expensive and easy to find anywhere.

I was under the impression that 75W oils were too viscous for the MGA box which is supposed to have 20W50 engine oil in it. I have Valvoline XLD in my rebuilt MGA box and it is very nice to use.
Having said this I use Redline MT90 in the boxes in my E types. It is a brilliant oil for this application and it really does improve synchro function in those boxes.. This from a Luddite who stubbornly refuses to believe anything said by lubricant advertising.

The viscosity ratings for gear oil & engine oils are not the same. 90w gear oil is roughly equivalent to 50w engine oil.
There is also the possibility that some of the additives in gear oils may not be compatible with the brass or bronze components in the MG gearbox.

I gave Redline MTL a test run for 12,000 miles several years ago. Did NOT like the way it shifted from day one having to ham flst it to prevent grinding. I was so happy the day I changed back to 20W50 and could get back to finger tip shifting again.
