Everyone loves a good test question...Here goes....I am restoring a 61 - 63 Midget...I had to pull the dash because there were wires and cables going everywhere except through dash. I am trying to determine which wire/cable goes through each hole. Now don't think I'm to foolish, I do know where the gauges and steering wheel go, its the other stuff. The only rule of the quiz is that you need to go from left to right.
Good Luck !!!

I like the other way for the top three left to right - choke cable, turn signal switch, starter cable. This puts the choke cable on the same side of the engine as the carbs and the starter cable on the same side of the engine as the switch and starter.

Make it easy for yourself and just take a peek in the appropriate drivers handbook or factory workshop manual. I have a lot of them on my website. I got this screen shot from page 16 of this pdf.

Thats funny cause for the sprite everything is opposite from the midget dash. The heater switch is where the light switch is, but the top controls are choke, turn, start. If you do it any other way the cables wont reach, not even close. That just seems screwy to have heat reverse and start set up like that picture

Now I know why they call you the "Guru". This is information that I, as a newbie, did not have and should possess.
Can you tell me if the dash is made of wood? I have seen many pictures that show colored dashes for the Midget?
Thanks for your input.

I am sure there's a reason, when the Mk2 Sprite came out, they swapped the positions of the choke and started cables, but I can't imagine what it was. I used BE cables on my Mk2 so swapped them back, but I may have to reconsider.
The good news for you is, it's really not complicated. If I can wire up a dashboard, anybody can

Iirc, the catalogs and manuals are incorrect. Someone posted the correct layout quite some time ago.

Some manuals and catalogues are incorrect, not all of them. The earliest MG midget factory manual is one example where some are mislabled. Later editions corrected the issue.

Originally should have been stamped sheet steel covered in vinyl.
