I use the NGK BRR6ES (7131) on both my Mini's (1275 Cooper S engine and a MG Metro 1275) and installed a set of my 74 Midget. Unfortunately thou the engine runs I've only driven it on my property once but I'm sure they'll be just fine when it's road worthy. I'm not sure if the BPR5ES is a hotter plug or a colder plug but I'm sure someone else knows.

The BPR5ES is one range hotter than recommended, On NGK, the lower the number, the hotter the plug, the BP6ES is the correct heat range for the Midget, I do move to 7s on street engine I built with CRs near 10.0 to 1, then on the race engine engines I use 8s. 9s ,and 10s depending on the build. Get the plugs Angel is suggesting, the R in the part number just stands for resistor, which is only important only if you have a stereo in the car.

Keep in mind that a resistor plug is to be used with non-resistor (copper core) plug wires. Stacking resistance of a plug on top of resistance-type wires (carbon core) will make the coil run hot, potentially cause ignition rotor failures, be more prone to cross-fire or have high tension shorts in the distributor, and give you a longer, weaker spark duration in the cylinder. The same way you need to run a 3 Ohm internally ballasted coil, you need to make sure the secondary ignition circuit falls within a reasonable resistance range.

I run these plugs in my 1098. It runs 10.5:1 and seems to like these plugs.
I should know better than to reply to something when I haven't touched the car in months. After I read hap's reply I when out side to look at my car. Sure enough the car has sevens in it and there are boxes full of 5's and 6's on the shelf. Back to being the casual observer.

I will keep them, they are the standard plug for the land rover. I wish I could get to a point where all of my engines take all the same tune up parts.

Kris, I'll take four of the 6's if yours are more inexpensive than Amazon at the moment: $2.19 each for a limited time. Order $25 and they qualify for free shipping (but not by drone to your door...that's a few years off).
