When first starting my 78 mgb it runs very ruff, like it's running on 2 cylinders. Then after driving for about 4-5 miles than suddenly the power picks up runs smoothly. I have changed the plugs(E3),wires (denso), but this has not cured the problem. Any suggestion
Bill

I would shut it down and look at the plugs when it is misfiring. Not running of course. I would want to see if your plugs are wet or dry and it is mainly one carb or if it is both.

If you have the Zenith-Stromberg carburetor, the problem you describe could be attributed to the water choke, which could be inoperative for some reason. They are known for not working well.

do you know how to use the manual choke? Most drivers under age 40-50 or so do not. Many have never heard of such.

If you do know about pulling out the manual choke for the first mile or so, check to be sure the choke is actually operating, the cable is not too loose, etc. If the choke isn't used or isn't working, you would get these symptoms until the car had warmed up. Alternately you could just warm it up in the garage for a few minutes, then drive off.
