The copper part lays flat inside the enclosure. It will slide back and forth along three positions, off, parking and headlights. When it moves, it closes the circuits that are connected to the three contacts at the bottom of the enclosure. I can't remember if the tabs on the copper part go along the length or width of the switch, but look at the bottom of the copper part and see if you can observe any marks that would tell you which direction it had been sliding in for all these years.
Then, the spring loaded part sits on the copper part. You can see the spot on the copper slide that is designed to hold the spring. Then, the top part snaps in place, with the plastic leg of the paddle switch fitting inside the notch on the part with the spring. It's a bit tricky, but doable. Sure wish I had made a video of this when I fixed mine!

Yes, it should be. There's always a chance that someone has changed the switch already, but my stock '80 switch matches the OP's switch.

The 80 switch is different from the OP switch. The 80 switch is paddle shaped and mounted on the side of the steering column.

This switch came out with the redesigned 1977 dash.
