Proud new owner of a 78' mgb (Brooklyn green). I looked at several mgb's with a lot of rust. I finally found one that was in decent shape within my price range. Drove it home yesterday across the state with no issues

Well, only part of my message went thru. Anyway I have a rough idle so I'll be working on that first. Several oil leaks. I'm assuming I need to buy Bentley manual, vacuum gauge, and timing light first. Is the green Bentley book the one to get?
Thanks

Hi Joe,

Welcome. It looks as if there is a lot of tinkering in the garage in your future, have fun with your new to you car.

Ask many questions here if you have to, and you should get many answers, not all the same, but that is what experienced tinkerer's will give you.

If I may, I will point out one thing. Your paint color is actually Brooklands Green, the British Leyland code for same is BLVC 169.

Enjoy your driving experience too.

Welcome to the madness. I've got a 78 also that was Brooklands Green before a PO painted it red. I will turn it back to Broooklands Green.

Read the stuff in the Tech Library, learn how to use the search function, have fun with the car.

There are great folks here.

Have fun.

looks like a good start. May just need to be driven, most sit around WAY too much!

Get the Haynes manual too, and Roger William's book on MGB problems. Then top it off with Rick Astley's book on MGB electrics.

Wont' even need this site!

This car is now very nearly completely done. Sure to find something else, but not now.........And 12 years later, I'm starting to fix things that were new when we built the car. It's pretty well de-bugged!
