This has come up a couple of times.

All I can say is when I started coming to this site, it was the MGB experience.

That abomination is not an MGB; the King is dead...

I'd prefer if it looked a little more like this (and I am sure Ferrari copied the MGB for this design, anyway).

Consider what this vehicle is supposed to be, a crossover, which MG, or anyone else for that matter, didn't have back in the day. Consider that we are in the 21st century, not the dark ages. Yes, it is NOT an MGB, and is NOT supposed to be. But, there are enough styling cues to make one recognize it's heritage. I would hazard a guess that most of the people that this car is aimed at, have never seen a true MGB. We, collectively, are a biased bunch, because, we for the most part, grew up with these iconic marvels of automotive history. I, for one, love my B's and the era they represent. But, on the other hand, I also recognize that we need to embrace the current, and future, crop of automobiles. You never know, if they do go ahead and produce this vehicle, it may be as iconic in 50 years as the MGB is today.

Having said all that, I do like the overall package, except it is not a standard, and the wheels seem to be set too far out and the tires should be a bit wider, IMHO.

But.... if they could have stuck with something like this... (my favourite modern MG):

Looks like an Infinity SUV raped a Mini and this was the result....with a little Kia Soul mixed in somehow. A true cluster ....

..good eye JackMG......kwinzee...nice try...but its a camel designed by a ......hippo...we can be condition to believe anything if we let ourselves ....many have accepted the premise that straight jack rubber rooms in personal safety are fashion De rigeuer....I haven't.

Not for me, it looks like a car/suv designed by a committee of kids that grew up on transformers.

They should have let the marque die. This "car" should have any other marque, except MG. I'd even be happy with De Soto, Nash, or Hudson (snicker).

Looks like the sort of thing you'd enter for the Paris to Dakkar.

I am amazed. Whenever I think they cannot come up with anything uglier, someone does. Is it some kind of contest or something? Is there some kind of honor in designing the ugliest car in the world?

For sure, Gerry. The Infiniti/Nissan big-wheel suv's, the Prius, a few Honda, Kia and Toyota models look like hammered $#!&. The disturbing part? People buy them...
