Hi I am just completing a total restoration MGC Roadster and have the third carb and linkages ready, I know it’s a long shot but thought it maybe worth a try, has anyone a set of Gary’s inlet manifolds they are now unlikely to use please ?
I’d rather these than Maniflow as the car deserves the best and I understand they would be move expensive.
Kind regards, Rob, Sussex, UK.

Rob, practically anything would be better than the original half-arsed manifold...I wouldn't be fretting if I was "forced" to use the maniflows! Especially if porting and polishing is carried out...

maniflow are over priced and there exhaust manifold is made by hand there is no tools to produce one,, that fits, only where it touches .there is no jig to produce them just a copy of one laying under the bench ,,was when I last used them...I appreciate the quality of the herbold manifold its what anyone making a product should always strive to achieve .its what I aim for when I produce a product..maybe I will look at a manifold Shaun ???

What a good idea...the US delivered inlet manifold seems to have had a little more thought put into flow...and, maybe UK could produce Herbold under licence?

There is probably a market for an accurately fitting/well flowed exhaust manifold if the construction of the maniflow is as poor as stated...stainless?...

While we are on induction....any advantage to adapting HIF6s? smiling smiley

Good question. When I first got my C/GT 2 years ago I dug up a set of HIF6s (from a Volvo I believe) that I had in my parts stash. I rebuilt them and got the linkage parts but never got around to researching jet needles. So they sit on the shelf.

I'd love to here some suggestions on jet needles and I'll give them a try.

I prefer HIF to HS so I'd welcome the switch.

Don't have the SU book, but would imagine that HS6 equivalent jets are likely to work well...

Back on manifolding, Downton are still active, maybe they too still have an MGC capability...in their archives! :-)

Urh-huh...

As someone who has driven a hot Mini (1360cc) fitted with a new HIF6 lots of miles...I am struggling to understand how, apart from adapter plates, linkages etc that you couldn't get a pair of HIF6s to perform admirably on an MGC...

And I'm definitely going to try this out. I started another thread about which needle to use.
