LLOYD 1937 Coupe. Yup, that was my 3 Rd car , 1st was a 27 Model "A", Pulled it home with the tractor and actually got it running, I was about 13 1/2 years old. Drove it around the farm and raced up and down the Irrigation canal banks. Bought a 1939 Sedan, pulled out the engine and took it up to a speed shop in Berkeley. They build me a pretty strong "Straight 6", GMC Head, Big Esky Cam I put on a set of "Holly Down Drafts" Edelbrock Intake and Exhaust Manifolds. I got my "Provisional" drivers License at 14 1/4 years old, to drive "Farm Equipment" on the Roads hauling Hay and other stuff into town. Ran my 39 Chevy at the "Stockton" Drag Way, 1/4 Mile run, 108 MPH and if I remember right ?? ET was like 12's ????? THAN I HIT THE 2000 lb "HOLSTEIN COW" Street Racing At Night. March 19, 1956 / My 16th Birthday. WELL Still here.

Maybe you guys can tell me something about my dad's first car. This photo was taken across the street from my great grandfather's service station on Holgate street in Portland, OR. It's not an MG either, although it looks like he tried customize.

Joe....search the memory deeper ! ! That's a 38/39 Chevy coupe......not a 37.

It's hard to tell without seeing the front, other than the grill they look the same. Photos of each year attached.
I learned to drive with my dad's 38 2 door, we also had a 39 after the 38. I wrecked and destroyed the 38. No
photos or scars to prove it.

Rod your picture looks to be a 37 Ford as was mentioned.

LLOYD: Could be, Wont argue. For sure the Cow Killer was a 39 and the Coupe was earlier. Tell me why you think that. ??? I was always modifying my cars even back then. I know for sure I was in the process changing out the tail lights. I Think I had already gotten rid of the side trim. I soldered up the holes with a Solder iron you had to heat up on the kitchen stove. You could only do like two holes at a time before the iron got cold. I have more pictures of the back and sides ????

That's a 39 Chevy.

The rear quarter windows are much bigger than the 37 and 38 business coupe. Rear roof line is much more abrupt where it meets the rear deck. Also note the hood side trim in the other pictures posted.

Very desirable car nowdays.... more so than an MGA.
