Maybe someone can help: my 65 B with twin SU carbs is idling rough and is running very rich. Valves have been adjusted, it has a brand new distributor and the carbs have been rebuilt properly. The front carb seems to be sucking more than the rear carb and no matter how we adjust the carbs this thing still doesn't want to idle and the idle is surging as well. When you give it has it sounds good and has plenty of power. Also fuel pump is a facet type and not original with no regulator. Is it possible that it is pushing too much fuel into the carbs causing my issues? Any help would be great, thanks!

The carbs need to be tuned/adjusted individually then linked together. Did you loosen the link between the carbs for the adjusting process?

Do you know the output pressure of the fuel pump? If 2-3 psi that is fine. If more than 5 psi that could be an issue.

Eric,

Thanks for the reply. I found the issue. The fuel pump was causing the problem. I disconnected and blocked the fuel line off and just ran fuel from a can via gravity feed and it smoothed right out and idles very nicely. The facet pump that was in there must have had much to much pressure. Thanks again.
