That is a big job. Plus the talent to do the panel and weld it in properly is scarce. Going to need an english wheel to make the panel.
Be easier to get an entire new roof panel. Would not be surprised if they had 20 hours into the harvest of a spare panel the removal of the old one and the install of the new, Paint still to come. You probably have or can get the local labour rates and work from this timeline.

Easy way to do this is to find a donor car and proceed as if you were doing a top chop. In other words, cut the roofs off at the pillars and C panel rather than picking the roof panel off. Then carefully measure and install the new structure along with the headliner from the donor.
If you are hell-bent on a local repair, some time in the scrapyard with a battery powered sawzall might get you a panel with the right curvature. Be open minded as the shape might be on a door or trunk panel of another car. Look up "flexible shape patterns" if you want a way to help find the bit of tin you need.

Knowing where you live I would think that a sunroof would be a plus. I am thus making the assumption that the one you have is either knackered or a non Webasto/Weathershield/Britax variety which are the preferred options for our cars.
If this is the case then you might well be better off acquiring one of these and fitting it - assuming that the existing aperture would need cutting rather than shutting.

GO for a new heritage roof panel,,,I did, picked it up from Moss locally....not a bad price if I recall but you have to remove the screen and gutter trim...Andy
Just realised where you are....shipping costs might be a factor...

Forget about finding a donor car to replace the roof....they are like rocking horse poo, just don't exist in OZ. As suggested why not repair the sun roof itself? Or if you are determined to fill it in I think Andrews suggestion of a heritage panel would be the best, and cheapest option, even if it has to come from the UK.

Hi Guys, the reason I asked is that the sunroof I have is over sized and there is nothing on the market big enough to fill the void. If I had realised this first I would not have bought the car. It was hard to resist, low price, one owner from new and totally wax protected from new so virtually no rust. I will live with the hearts decision and will have to have a new roof fitted. The company that fits them locally can partially infill the hole, but at an expense! Thanks all again.

What do mean by "oversized?" Picture? The Webastro sunroof I had went to about 3" from the gutter; Whe I need a new top,
I went to a good upholstery shop and they replicated the vinyl, cut it to size and essentially gave me a new top - using the
original frame and bows.
You have not mentioned but are you talking about a non-vinyl roof panel? The Webastro type roofs are very adjutable, the bows
of mine had at least 2" of width adjustment and I'm sure if you look around you can find the right dimensions. The length of the
roof is dictated by the vinyl and the number of the bows.
I'm sure there are better solutions than "closing" up the hole - can you send a picture so we can visualize?
