Heaven Is...
1) Schlemmerized dizzy / driving first time on highway.
2) Blue label OD. (Installed only last year).
3) Smooth new tires.
4) Nicely tuned ZS (paid $160 service last year).
5) Car 100% functional after 23 years of fixing this and that, and that too.
6) Surprise, a nice sunny warmish day, though rain was forcast.
7) My FAVOURITE composer "Sibelius"; his violin concerto playing on radio with 6 speakers sounding Great!
8) Found my stash of roasted unsalted cashews under passenger seat.
9) Ferry ride (short) included in day.
10) Dropped in on old acquaintance (not really a friend) and took him for a drive in country, and even let him drive and play with OD. The fact he was a commercial "bush pilot" for 15 years, and has FLOWN AS CAPTAIN TO THE NORTH POLE 7 TIMES!!!!!!!, I felt I could trust him to drive my little B.
Today, probably last nice day (sun. no rain) before insurance runs out on 28th.
All last weekend spent installing and tuning my 25D from Jeff. (Two seperate MGE threads and MUCH help). Drove only in city 3x until today.
Today hit highway with high anticipation. As title says felt like heaven. Running as smoothly and crisply as any (reasonably) expensive sports car.
I only took pictures because too many of you would doubt (chastise me) without. On Vancouver Island, north of Victoria BC is "The Malahat", (mountain range) where poor driving skills / techniques has led to too many deaths. View has Canadian "Saanich Peninsula" in foreground, and USA "San Juan Islands" in background. Mt. Baker (which I climbed on icefield to summit years ago) obscurred by clouds. How many of you have two countries in one photo? (rhetorical question).
Pic. #2 on ferry which eliminates Malahat back to Victoria. "Le Jacque" sitting between seats. "Hard" ("Hard Knocks" actually) on hood.

Sibelius is not bad, I'm going to listen to the symphony #2 by Orchestre Metropolitain of Montreal this Friday but I still prefer Beethoven the second movement of symphony #7 is remarkable.

Nice shots Harv, good to see you out and about!
Sounds like you guys and Le Jacque & Hard Rock, of course, all enjoyed a great day!
Now back to regular programming with our wet coast monsoons, something our brethren on the "other" coast would gladly trade for right about now I'm sure.
Cheers,
Jeff
1974 MGB GT, 18V+.030, Richard Longman head, OD, HIF4's, rebuilt 25D w/points, ALTIMAX RT43-185/70's on Minotaurs.
Some days I wish I could go back in life. Not to change anything, just to feel a few things twice.

Hi Harv
Last in Victoria in 82 around the time of St Helens explosion, my wifes uncle lived there then.
Got good memories of Victoria, just bought our GT the year before, hired a Camaro whilst we were over, really disapointed with it, no guts, must have been regulated for the hire market.
Love to drive the B around Rogers pass, Golden etc.
Going to try and revisit again before we get too old!
Still got the B, although we only intended to keep it for a couple of years, now the great neices and nephews want it!

Michael #3 Sibelius #2 is my favourite Symphony. A rare treat to hear it live.
Thanks for comments all.
If I don't spend too much time here on MGE, I may get another ride into past Sooke. Trouble is, you often can't trust the weather report even from a few hours earlier. I look at the report and if barometer is rising or falling to refine my expectations.
