Heading North again, this time ending in Rhode Island for Christmas. I have prepared with several sets of points and condensers at the ready. It would be really nice to make the trip with no untoward events, but I am not holding my breath.
Update: Made it to Baltimore with a minimum of fuss. Pulled into the parent's place Friday night, car running great. Only real problem I had was the inclination of the Secondary wire coming loose from the Alternator. Friday morning i discovered that the alternator was a bit loose at the top bracket, thereby causing a vibration. Tightened it up, and no problems since.
In answer to the query about the number of points and condensers I carried with me, on the last trip I went through 2 condensers. In the previous trip, I had to locate a set of pints while on the side of the road in Connecticut. In both cases, the failed parts were supposed quality parts (the points were from Jeff). Glenn Lenhard, our local MG guru, tells me that there are a batch of bad condensers currently on the market. The situation is so bad that he refuses to tune up a points car at the moment. I have found a source for Intermotor parts, and that is what I am currently using, with the hopeful result that I will not have a problem. So far, so good.
So, headed to Rhode Island Tuesday morning. Weather not looking so good, but I gotta go!!!!

I'm surprised to hear you say "several sets of points and condensers".
I can see possible value of one, but why do you need more?
Jeff has recently stated both 20K and 30K miles for life of points, but your drive won't total that. As well, when replacing points it's not a good idea to replace condenser unless you know it's bad. MY DVM has capacitance checker - never used it. What is cap value? Does value change with different dizzy's, even non-MG?
Just curious.

Lived in Watch Hill for a few years. Better than California in some ways. Take a winter coat, hat, and gloves for sure. Could be a little chilly. And a big flashlight so you can see the nail in your tire you just picked up. And a AAA card.
