This is one of our advertisers. This product interests me as I'm not interested in installing a radio. Since I could stream from my Android or Iphone, this seems like the cat's meeow. I'm looking for reviews on the product to see if it would be loud enough for an old geezer like me to hear while cruzin with the top down. http://www.outofsightaudio.com/

Well, 75 watts X two is PLENTY of open air power. You'll have your neighbors plenty mad at you at high volume! winking smiley

Otherwise, I cannot speak for the product. At least your question will now be bumped to teh top! grinning smiley

VERY cool.

I was all excited about the Retrosound radio when it came out, but it was still too big for the console unless I went to remote (taking up space somewhere else). Then, I was hopeful when head units began being offered without CD or tape drives (making them much shallower, and easy to fit in our console), but their face plates were always way too blinky (like what a young person would like to see on their stereo when installed in a Honda Civic, not what would look good in a classic car).

harumpf

But THIS looks like a very good solution. No face plate at all, just fit the "MG" blanking plate over the hole and use the phone. The downside is not having a simple volume knob for the most often used feature on any ICE (in car entertainment).

Gonna have to definitely think about this (and think about not having an, easy to use without looking, volume knob)...

I like the concept of this device. But there may be some things lacking. The absence of a volume control being readily available as Norm pointed out. It also is lacking a speaker balance and bass/treble controls. I would also like to see some information the frequency range being an example. And is there a warranty?
I agree with Norm about the Retrosound but for me it still edges out anything else I have seen.

Well us old geezers have another option that was recently discussed. Apparently one can get hearing aid's that will allow blue tooth music to be piped in! Just what my wife says I need!

I didn't think about the volume knob. I bet the iphone interface is pretty good, you might even be able to use the knob on it. Same with balance, fade, bass, treble I bet. This is on my short list of stuff to look into....

Tim, I am anxiously awaiting your report!
One thing I am wondering about is the speaker(s). I do like the dual voice coil speaker that could replace the original speaker in the radio counsel. I have a pair of the Retrosound rare earth magnet speakers in my TR6 and really like them.

4x8-inch stereo dash replacement speakers
Neodymium magnet structure for ultra-thin design
Mounting depth is just 1.8-inches
Santoprene® surrounds for smooth, natural sound
Mylar tweeters for crisp, clear highs
Dip-cut magnet for extended pole piece excursion
100 watts power handling
Speaker grills and wire included

This does look nice. I would just wonder about the quality of the audio from the Bluetooth signal. I tried some Bluetooth earphones recently and they were very thin and tinny. No bass in the audio at all.

No knobs the better, control everything from the iphone.

I wonder if it is always on or if you would need to wire it to a switch (probably to the ignition switch)?

Looking at the wiring instructions, it shows a switched +12 volts, so it's not always on.

Just to clear up a few questions.

-Volume control
I am not sure that clicking the volume buttons on the side of a cell phone or MP3 is any more distracting or difficult than turning a volume knob. All smart devices I am aware of allow you to adjust volume from the external buttons without signing in or fumbling with the actual screen. I think it is just comes across as strange idea because everyone is used to volume knobs, but once you try this it actually is not a problem and turns out to be rather convenient.

-Balance, bass treble & mono
There are dozens of equalizer apps that can be downloaded onto iPhone's or Android Phones to control all these features. You can use the stock player that comes with the phone to keep it simple or you can download apps to adjust the sound however you like.

-Sound quality
The sound quality / depth of bass will rival any comparably priced head unit you can purchase, and the sound quality through Bluetooth is actually very good. It definitely rivals the sound quality of a corded connection.

-Warranty
Yes, all out of sight audio products come with a 90 day limited warranty. (It is displayed on the contact page of outofsightaudio.com)

Thank you all for your time & If any one has any other questions at all you can email me anytime at mattmcclurg@outofsightaudio.com

You know Kerry, I have the same phone and a set of bluetooth headphones, but what I want is for my passenger to be able to hear my favorite Pandora stations and I think this will do just that. I've got my fingers crossed.

That's what makes it interesting to me too, I want to listen to MY favorite tunes & station and at the volume I might want to listen to them and not have them turned off or changed when a particular favorite of MINE comes on. I will also need a secure place to lock my phone up in so my 'passenger' can't get to it.
