Hi Gil.

Not me, but my '59 was fitted with HS4 carbs from an MGB. If you like the HIF carbs, there is no reason why they couldn't be used.

I ended up trading the HS4 carbs to Lloyd Faust, who bought a '79 MGB that had been fitted with H4s ???? We were both happy with the swap.

Kelvin.

I just wondered if MGB carbs improved anything on the MGA . I have a spare rebuilt set of H4 carbs anyway. Right now I am pulling the head for a valve job to put in hardened valve seats.

Given the same fuel metering needle, no functional difference at all. The H4 is more likely to drip from the bottom, while the HS is more likely to break a plastic tube. And there is a different kind of fiddle to do the linkage adjustments.

Anyone with a Moss SC has a HIF44 carb, and a number of people with my Judson carb modification also use it - miles better than the standard Holley 1904.
