After over 30 years of sitting in a garage, I finally got the 1969 MGC GT running today. I replaced all the ignition, put on the three Webers, that were rebuilt when I got the car, and cleaned out the gas tank. After getting two different sets of Lucas points that didn't work, I finally decided to get an electronic ignition module from Petronix. I also decided since I was adding that, to go ahead and replace the coil with one from Petronix.
I've got some tunning to do on the ignition timing and getting the carburetors dialed in, and it needs a new radiator cap and exhaust gaskets. I also need to rebuild the leaking fuel pump, but I've already got a kit for that.
What an exciting day for me!
Here two videos to enjoy...

* The MGC lives:

* MGC GT exhaust note:

Hope everyone enjoys it. Another MG lives again.

Gary Brown

It's the "Little" things.

Although I now own this C, it will always be Pat's MG

Dan,

That's a start, it will sound better when you get it running correctly. I totally agree with you replacing the points with the Petronix pick up and coil.

If you do not have the top cover to go over the radiator top tank to seal the air flow so it all goes through the radiator you should try to get one as in Texas you need all the cooling you can get.

Keep at it.

Bruce.
