Hello, I am *considering* doing a convertible conversion to my GT. Is this a good idea? I need rear fenders, trunk.. anything else?
Thanks,
Zack

Why? You will run into all kinds of issues (e.g. Windshield frame).....What makes you want to consider cutting into your GT?

Makes no sense to convert a GT, you could buy a roadster for less than the cost of conversion.

Trade with Pat. Don't cut a GT, you're wasting a bunch of time & $$$$....

Please don't.....there are far more roadsters around that would be cheaper to buy than to make up a bastard that will never be right.....Just my two cents....Cheers

GT's are much more rare and are gaining in popularity. Don't do it. Sell it and buy a roadster or keep it and buy a roadster.
Just my $0.02.

GT values in CA are lower than roadster values. Opposite of what it is in the east. Because we get 9-10 months of roadster weather, And the rest is just rain. If we get anything but 30-40° lows overnight.

Maybe you really want an El Camino style pickup? I will agree with the others, though, it will be cheaper to buy a roadster than to change out a GT to a convertible. From what I gather, its the front fenders that are different. This is because of the windshield,

What the???????.......Oh no you didn't.

i agree, x 2, with everyone who said not to do it, but to be technical, i would answer your question for academic purposes by saying that the body pressings underneath both cars are the same...the GT is strong enough to withstand her top coming off....but as a guy with both....who uses his GT as a daily driver...i would beg you not to do it.

It would be cheaper, easier, smarter, and classier to put a Webasto top on the GT.
