Front Brake Problem

I have a 1957 MGA 1500 which has been in storage of the last few years. I started driving it last week. I experienced a brake problem yesterday and am seeking some advise. It started pulling to the right when I braked. After a few miles the right front brake froze up. If I go in reverse for a few feet it releases and is okay until I use the brake again. It then freezes up again until I roll in reverse. Any idea what might cause such a problem?
Thanks
Thanks

Rust/corrosion in the wheel cylinder(s) from sitting so long. I'd certainly recommend a full brake system overhaul on a car that's been sitting that long. Could also be rust or burrs on the backing plate, or grooves worn into the backing plate where the back edge of the metal brake shoe rides against the backing plate. When reassembling, file/grind off any burrs and put a little white grease on those areas to reduce friction.

Dick, thanks for the quick reply. I am going to pull it apart tonight. What might cause it to stick?

See if the brake frees up if you open the brake bleeder. If so, a suspect will be the rubber brake hose. Old ones can collapse internally and prevent brake fluid from return to the master cylinder. The other suspect would be the master cylinder, piston not returning to rest after applying the brakes.
