The engine number tag was mostly missing when I bought my MGB. I had it researched by the British Industry Motor Trust folks and had a new tag made from the information that they provided, but I don't have the original style rivets. Any ideas as to where they can be found?
Thanks
Thanks

Thanks, Now why didn't I think of Moss. The fellow that made the tag said they were special domed rivets and that he was out of them. At .89 each I will give them a try.
Anyone ever remove them? I guess just chisel them off and dirll them out?
Thanks

They are hard - drilling out is fraught with the danger you will slide off into the relatively soft cast iron.
Removal is very simple - take an old wood chisel and tap it under the edge of the rivet head and while tapping, lever the head upwards, the rivet will unscreww itself.
I use the same technique to remove them even when the plate is still in place - just slide the chisel under the edge of the plate - damage to it is minimal and easily dressed out when refitting.

The chisel method works, especially a skinny chisel. If the plate is still attached place a thin metal shim between the chisel and the plate.
Another method is to again place a shim over the plate, file flat spots on two sides of the rivet, and using a adjustable wrench turn the rivet out counter clockwise.
Be safe out there.
