The end of the world is near.
I got UPS package from Hong Kong, 2 day ship, contents cost $28, weight 12 oz, shipping $5.99.
I went to ship a t-shirt UPS today, to Canada, contents cost $20, weight 9 oz, shipping $36.95.
WHAT?
Went to the Post Office, sent package to Poland, Contents value $50, weight 1 pound 13 oz, shipping $22.75
Took the t-shirt going to Canada, contents $20, weight 9 oz, mail $15.50 for shipping... Same shirt to Australia postage $22.75
Not going to be able to send shirts outside the USA for $20 delivered any more.

I ordered some cheap watches on Amazon from China. $4.99 each and free shipping. It did take three weeks to get to me but they did and they have been working great for over a year. Can't beat that.
Those shipping charges you posted, Michael, are just "yikes". Crazy.

USPS and Canada Post have dropped regular parcel from their menu when shipping to Canada, as well as media mail, both of which were relatively economic means of cross border shipping.
Their prices are now very similar to the courier companies.
A parcel shipped from the DC area to Canada which cost $24-26US with regular parcel and arrived in about 5 days now costs. $53 US and arrives in 5-10 days. Canada is likely the largest consumer of economy shipping from the US business/private sector, so of course it makes perfect economic sense to double the shipping costs. , and pretend to be giving faster service.

I ship to my son in the UK a lot and I ***** about the cost all the time. Shipping is usually more then the cost of the item I send him. And to top it off the UK has a VAT that is added on. The USPS has quit using ships to deliver mail overseas. It's all by air now. What does upset me is the fact with the low cost of fuel now a days UPS has a add on cost of a fuel charge. Shipping cost here and sent abroad has gotten out of hand.

We used to be your largest trading partner per se, but I imagine China has that honour these days.
We are flooded with Chinese 'products' up here, too. It used to be nice to be able to buy goods from the States, the British Isles. and European countries, but the Chinese have cornered the market for almost everything these days. Too bad so much of it is cheap and low quality.
Imperial by choice; Metric by force.
