Hello all,
Apologies if this has been asked before. I am new to the forum and have tried searching for this topic, but cannot find any previous posts. My 1500 has a standard MGOC stainless steel exhaust system (not the sports one), but with a 4-2-1 manifold. I have added K&N filters and would like to get the mixture set up correctly. The carbs have the standard needles in at the moment, but I think the mixture is running weak at high openings and rich at tickover. Does anyone know what needles would be correct for this setup?
Thanks,
Keith

Recently installed HS4's on my '75 Midget. Originally from a Triumph Dolomite. MG Automotive did total rebuild...says carbs are same as on MGB with the exception of Triumph SU jets (red bottoms). Joe Curto recommended ABC needles and I purchased a set from him. Car runs wonderfully with no professional tune. Will probably take it to MG Automotive in the near future for a proper tune. I am running the K & N conical filters that I took off my '79 MGB, exhaust header (forget what brand) and a Spitfire waterpump/fan and a Monza free flow exhaust. I think the car runs better than it ever has.

A quick update. Whilst working on the carbs again tonight, I found that the suction through the rear carb was a lot lower than the front. Found that one of the nuts / clamp was missing on the inlet manifold. Fitted one and the car runs 10 times better! Accelerates right through the rev range cleanly, which it wasn't doing before. Think my problems are over for now... May still get it to a dyno at some point though.
