Coming to the aid of a friend

Early in January one if my daughter's high school classmates and her husband lost their apartment and most of their possessions in a devastating fire. They're expecting their first child any day now so the anxiety and sense of loss was greatly magnified.
Last night Kings Park HS alumni from the class of 2007, faculty and current students from the theater and music program held a benefit to help their friends out. It was organized by a couple of alumni who sought out aid from their former music teacher. He was able to secure the high school auditorium as the venue and enlisted his current students to perform as well. They recruited friends (all music and theater alumni) who were scattered throughout the NY metropolitan area and even as far away as Richmond, VA to come back home to perform.
The show was a smashing success. They raised almost $4000 for their friends.
These are all kids we've known since they really were kids. They've all grown up to be fine people. We couldn't be more proud of them.
