It's always something....

In all of my years of MGing, I've never experienced this problem...

On my 1972 MGB, after the clutch pedal is pushed down....it is slow to return...new clutch m/c and clutch slave in 2013.

I'm thinking that perhaps the clutch hose at the slave cylinder has deteriorated and is collapsing upon itself similar to a brake flexible hose to a caliper.. (No loss of fluid nor leaks)

I do not consider the car driveable in this condition.

Thoughts?

Is your spring attached? I know it's just to "assist", but that's exactly what it does.

If you did not replace the hose when you did the m/c and slave I'd agree that's where I go next. To me, it's counterintuitive to replace the slave and not replace the hose while you are at it. Bet it will be more fun now that it would have been two years ago. The other part of the issue is if it is the hose there MAY be rubber bits in the hardline as well so I'd be sure to flush

I just went through this exact thing with one of my Subaru's. Thought for sure it was the slave, turned out to be a hairline crack in the hose. Barely visible and no fluid would even appear under the car.

73 MGB. Tires: Round, black, hold air. Oil: Sometimes old, sometimes new...always slippery. Oil filter: Yellow, usually full of oil. Carbs: 2 SU HIF. Distributor: Yes. Headlights: Not that bright but bright enough. A bunch of other stuff most cars have but not really important enough to itemize. Oh, wait...it has a cool sounding exhaust with stickers on the chrome tips. Really slays the ladies...

Change the hose and copper gasket.

Flush liberally.

As stated, it is a good plan to do all three together.

Typically this symptom is the hose.
