So since Ive had my sprite on the road I thought I had air in it, I got it to the point where it was drivable and it seemed ok, but the adjustment on the clutch fork was on the tight side, its a datsun trans FYI. So with the installation of the 5 speed (had a datsun 4 speed before) and the balanced clutch/flywheel, rebuilt trans and notching the tunnel and all the other crap im fixing along the way thought I should handle this clutch engaging on the floor issue

Long story short, the master cylinder was 1/2" from being bottomed out with the clutch pedal on the floor. Now I had switched to a later pedal in my bug eye, and i thought I had measured the location of the cluster from a MK4 and had it all straightened out and in the correct place, maybe its too far back, i dunno...what ever, doesn't matter, moving the cluster would be a PITA, lengthening the clutch master pushrod wast gonna happen either, it doesn't come outa the master and threading it to extend it would mean it wouldn't slide down the bore so the only thing I could do is relocate the hole in the pedal, because I didn't want to cut and reweld the pedal. So i welded a small piece the same thickness to the end, then welded up the original hole and redrilled the new one basically between the new piece of metal and the pedal, right on the seam. That got me the stroke I needed with 1/2" to the floor with the cylinder bottomed out. Clutch feels awesome now! So then I made a stop to attach to the floor so im just before bottoming out the master....done and done.

So 2 more things I need to straighten out...still have a driveline vibration in the rear at 45-50ish MPH, im thinkin its the 3rd member that has an issue. There is some pretty good slop in the backlash, and ive noticed if it starts vibrating i can push the clutch in and it still there, and if i just let the clutch back out quick it goes away and its buttery smooth. And the car is twichy..I need to rotate the tires to be sure they didnt wear funny before it was aligned, and either way i need to get it on a frame rack as it has excessive positive camber (3deg+) on the left side

So ya...long post I know, but this is fixed!! And im happy

I just did my own wheel alignment, a lot less twitchy! It was towed in 3/4".
