I have a knocking sort of bumping noise from the rear right when I go over bumps. I can't hear it with the top down but with the convertible top up it is very noticeable when I hit bumps. It's the sort of noise you would hear if a tire iron were bouncing around on the trunk floor. I've had this noise for a couple thousand miles and figure its time to try and sort it out.

I've emptied out the trunk and that did not eliminate the noise. I've tightened the battery brackets as well with no resolution.

My next step will be to look at the shock mounts.

I have installed new rear springs and new World Wide shocks all the way around in the past few years. The U-bolts on the axle to spring connection must be tight as I have no crabbing when accelerating. The rebound straps were replaced when the rear springs were done.

The exhaust system is solidly mounted and on the other side from the noise anyway.

Any suggestions on what else to look at other than the rear shocks?

Thanks,
BH

BH, I can almost garuntee that if you tighten up the 2 shock bolts to the chassis, the noise wil go away.
Classic symptoms of too loose. Had it on two of my cars.

It was the shock mounting bolts. I just took a nice quiet bumpy road ride after tightening them up. I'll do the other side in the morning to be safe.

Thanks all.

The vapor can in the boot can make quite a noise when it gets loose.
