In reply to # 3252909 by sisprite Just wondering if anyone has replaced their front calipers with a newer calipers, eg wilwood etc?

Hey, Geoff.

Actually, a couple of people with whom I've corresponded about my rear disc conversion have done that. One fellow (picture attached) used Wilwood WIL-120-8725 calipers and Will-150-8813K pads over Spitfire rotors up front. He had to fabricate caliper mounts and hub spacers, and in lieu of a suitable adapter terminated the hard lines to a 3-AN flare, then installed a male-male 3-AN fitting to the original mounting point. But otherwise he said the conversion was straightforward. Of course, this is a talented fabricator, so what's easy for him may be not-so-easy for the rest of us.

Another gent did some experimenting and suggested that Nissan Sentra front calipers and (true ventilated) 9" rotors would fit inside 13" wheels. You can see his 4x4 Sentra conversion--albeit on Morris Minor--here, although I believe he may have used the 10" Sentra front version (they had two sizes during the years in question): http://www.creativespridgets.com/customer-cars/ He, again, is a talented fabricator.

Due to being completely overwhelmed with the 'day job,' I have been dead in the water re: the Spridget front-disc brake conversion and other projects.

Joel

I did the conversion on my auto cross car. I put Wilwood calipers and Spitfire rotors on with a custom made spacer. You also need a bracket to mount the caliper. Mounting holes and distance from center line is different. Very easy and straight forward.

Thad,

Did you use an OEM later model master cylinder? That's what I have on the '67, retro-fitted.

Well, I'm really liking this particular setup. I may have to make another adapter, so people can have 4x4 discs. I really like Charlie's Sentra 4x4 conversion featured on my website (for Minors), but have had lots of folks say they'd prefer a single disc and aluminum 4-pot caliper to keep the unsprung weight down.
