Does anyone have experience with a good fitting, fleece lined car cover for a TA? It's a Tickford if that makes any difference. I'm not looking for anything weatherproof as the car lives in a climate controlled garage.

My guess because of the roof and hood profiles that a t-series will not fit. Your likely to have to get a custom fitted cover from a upholstery shop. Beautiful car by the way.

Thank you, Bill. I feel really lucky to have found her. I talked to Jason at California Car Covers and luckily he already has the pattern for a Tickford body. I was originally going to order a fleece lined cover like I have for the MGB, but he pointed out that it would leave lint on the cloth top. On his recommendation I ordered their Dustop cover - much cheaper than their fleece lined cover, but he guaranteed it would be just as gentle on the paint and leave no lint. Because it's not a stock cover, the wait is 2-3 weeks, but no extra charge. Very helpful and honest folks.

Jim please let me know how the cover fits when it arrives. I have one of their covers on my TD but I do not think it was custom made to fit because it fits great in front and back but looks like high water pants in the middle. See picture.
If yours works I will order a custom one and move that to one of my other cars.
I am also curious since I have never seen in person or know of anybody who owns a TA how is the power, braking and driving performance on the highway?
Thanks
Joe

Yes, the car has been restored as original with the exception of the motor, which is a TPDG engine from an MG VA, bored out to the "Cream Cracker" spec of 1750cc. It makes for a very robust engine, much sturdier than the original TA's relatively fragile MPJG head and block. I do have the original MPJG engine, but the head was cracked and TA heads are scarcer than hen's teeth, hence the switch. The VA engine is nearly identical to the TA engine, just slightly larger in all dimensions, and looks very different from the venerable XPAG engine which followed in the TB's, TC's etc. The chrome Landau irons are original to the car, not reproductions, and are actually folding hinges so the hood can be totally dropped to create a true roadster. The Tickford MG is a "coach built" MG, the special Drophead Coupe body and hood being built by Salmons & Sons, who also did custom bodies for Rolls Royce, Aston Martin, and Triumph, among others.
There's a short history of Salmons here:

Wow! That is a piece of art. I'd love to see more pics of it. I especially like that brass piece on the side for the roof. I assume it is all original?

Finally resolved the car cover saga. I ordered a cover from California Car Cover as they indicated they had the pattern for the Tickford DHC. It arrived in about two weeks and I was excited to finally take off the temporary plastic sheet and install a proper cover. Well the cover fit - but it fit too well. There wasn't enough slack in it for the Tickford mirrors, which extend out 7 1/2 inches from the body. Because of that the cover had the "high pants" look that Joe mentioned, and the cover surely would have torn because it was so tight over the mirrors. I talked to CCC and they told me to send it back and they would install mirror pockets in the cover, no charge. I was a little annoyed because we had discussed mirror pockets when I initially ordered, but CCC assured me that it wouldn't need the pockets. Well, that was obviously the wrong advice.

So, I cut holes in the cover as instructed to locate the mirrors, sent the cover back to CCC, and just received it back again today. It fits perfectly now, and who knows, maybe if the the mirror pockets had been installed initially, they might not have been located correctly. The first picture shows the cover before the pockets were installed, and the mirror locations are marked with a strip of blue tape.

Looks great. I have the same issue with Moss's Monsom cover as it doesn't accommodate side mirrors on the windshield supports. Glad they took care of it for you. What was the total costs ?
