It's out! Didn't take as long as I thought. I do need to make a few repairs as I tore the sheet metal in a few spots.
Never plug welded before. Have any tips? Am I trying to match the weld locations or use new spots? Do I need as many spots as were in it?
I picked up weld through primer and I figured on using sheet metal screws to hold it in place while welding. Then seam seal, prime and paint. A little undercoat on the bottom side for good measure.

Batter/Heater tray is a very structural component to car, it should be welded very securely back in place!

Good plan Jim. Put 1/4" plug welds between the old spot welds and that should be enough. Be sure the surface is clean and smooth for the new metal. Clamp securely as you go with the plug welding. The weld thru primer is a plus for you but not a substitute for having the area clean before applying the primer.

Battery tray in my BE is pop riveted in place. Plan is to weld in place. Grind off the rivets and fill the holes up. Will be easier than drilling it all out and replacing. Agree that battery tray a very important structural member holding both sides of the car together.
about 2 years and 11 months later...
