It is my understanding that there is an SCCA autocross event in Brooksville, FL on the weekend of Oct 11/12.

Is anyone on here going?

What should I expect?

Will I have any trouble getting in a class with my 'modified' car?

I briefly read over some of their info, but didn't want to spend hours deciphering the rulebook.....

Ian SCCA has a modified Production car class which your car falls into. I believe it is E-Mod.
That class is for production cars with mods that don't fit into any other class. E-Mod is from cars with engines larger than 2000cc or with turbochargers.
You will find that in that class the fast cars are on racing tires but it is not a requirement.
First time out don't plan on being the fastest that will come with time and improved car set-up.
Have fun!

Thanks. I am on DOT race tires. I don't plan on being fastest. Yes, I have tons of chassis/suspension setup to do. I thought the autocross would be a good place to 'test and tune'.

Like everyone told me, don't try to be the fastest just have some fun and get the feel of your car and the coarse. When I went for my first try, after each run some people had to come over and take a look at the car. Lots of fun! Got another one coming up this month. Gonna push a little harder this time.

Always good advice. I have done a lot of racing in my life. I will be out there racing the course and trying to set up and improve my equipment. What everyone else is doing is irrelevant.

Ok, I started to read the SCCA rules. I think I will go back to law school. I should have these rules figured out in 4 or 5 years

That would be quite a commute. We used to go as far north as VIR for the motorcycle road races though....
