Hello once again to all of you experienced Midget folk out there, I have yet another quick question: As you can see in the subject, my alternator is smoking when I hook it up. Im not really sure why but that is not a good sign. Any leads on what could be causing this? Im planning on swapping my coil soon, could that be the issue or do you think it could be something else? Im a bit rubbish at electrics so any help in the matter would be great.

Note: For those of you who have been following my restoration, Ive got the engine rebuilt and most everything hooked back up! Now its just waiting on a new starter and hose lines as well as a gulp air valve. Its been quite the adventure!

The only time that I have seem this happen is when I accidentally hooked it up backwards (positive ground) and it smoked the diodes.
