The engine is FAR from being ready for final assembly... The block is not even painted yet, let alone all the machine work a certain well known engine builder will perform one day soon. I just took the time to temp-assemble a few parts to get an idea of how things will eventually come together. The header returned from ceramic coating at Jet-Hot so it was time. One of the biggest things I want to do is manufacture two stay rods to provide additional support the Webers when they are installed. I ran the engine without them for many years and never had a problem but I just don't like the weight of those carbs just "dangling off the edge of the cliff" so to speak... It's a lot of weight for those three intake bolts/nuts (per carb) to support, plus vibration. Time to do it right!
I was really lucky in my choice of colors from Jet-Hot. I'd also like to say that their service is very professional. The warranty they provide states that they will re-coat your header one additional time should it fail due to the fault of the coating itself. $150 plus shipping. I am very satisfied. Their 0120 Satin Silver matches Dupli-Color Engine Enamel (with ceramic) color DE 1615 Aluminum if anyone is interested. This is the spray paint I used for the head and the intakes so now everything matches.
All of this should look really nice inside a red engine compartment...

Looks good. Just don't get distracted staring at it and let a gator sneak up behind you!

Paul,
A little advice? I suggest you put a pin in your rotation stopper on the engine stand! One unwanted spin and you will be extremely unhappy.
Below is the factory tuning guide advice of the side draught Weber installation. I understand it is only one, and the other side of the engine but they may inspire?
When will you sop putzing about and build the engine!

Bruce,
Thank you very much sir!!!! I appreciate your reply. Honestly, I really need to remove the block from the stand and lubricate the rotational shaft... It is so tight I have to actually use the handle to spin it at all. Good eye though! It is very kind of you to show so much concern. The pin is kept in it when being "stored" but does not allow the engine to sit perfectly upright. I only removed it for the pics.
I have the stay-rod information you provided. It is in one of the Weber books I purchased years ago. These illustrations obviously show the use of a single 45 DCOE on the "normal" side of the engine. Unfortunately there are not any available attachment points on the other side to readily mount a support rod. I may end up manufacturing two "L" brackets that will attach to oil pan securing bolts. Either way, they need to be made with hard rubber bushings to allow for some normal vibrations... This will most likely be the last thing I do just prior to installing the engine so that everything is in its' proper position.

Ryan & Len,
The water you see in the pictures is actually attached to the East Bay so not fresh...
Alligators will get in salt water occasionally though. They do it to free themselves of certain skin irritations and mites, so I've been told. They just can't stay in it or they end up being "gator jerky"!

That is just ugly and disgusting.
I think you should throw it all away and start over.
Just put it out on the curb for the trash - but please tell me when you do it and your address!!
Looks great!!!!
He had delusions of adequacy.
Law of Mechanical Repair - After your hands become coated with grease, your nose will itch and you'll have to pee.
Are you required to have a current license to drive an electric car?

I had this 'spin thing' happen to me only once. I had removed the pin to rotate the engine to check something then spun it back, and forgot to put the pin. Yikes! These engine stands have the pivot at such that these B engine end up top heavy. Perhaps more stable with a V8 or the like.

Thanks Robert!! LMAO... Really though, it is not worth its weight in recycled metals!!
Do you ever get down to Panama City? I would be honored to see your B down here and take you over to our club garage... A lot of nice British cars to see. And the beautiful coast line of course.
