While waiting for my V6 rebuild (thrown rod...) I bought a 74 MGB doner car. New rebuild on the original 4 banger (Parting out the body stuff.) and I noticed that the front engine mounts are quite different. Can I just buy the 75-80 Bracket and Rubber Mounts and drop the engine in? Or is there more to it than that?
The way this project has gone, I'm assuming there's more.....

Thanks.

ML

You will need to use the front engine plate from a rubber bumper car. Changing it involves removing the front pulleys, the timing chain cover, timing chain and gears, switching plates and reassembling. Not a big deal to do.

No, You have to use a 75- 80 front plate. The brackets for the late mounts won't mount to your 74 plate.

I guess I type too slow .Anthony x2

When fitting an earlier engine into a later car, you may find interference between the raised oil gallery boss and the left front motor mount. You can grind away some of the metal for clearance. Before and after photos attached...
