It's now just a little over a week until the 3rd Annual Coastal MG Tour along the back roads of the Massachusetts South Coast and Rhode Island East Bay region on Saturday, May 3, 2014! And the extended forecast for the day looks great with a partly sunny sky and temperature of around 60 degrees!
We've had over a dozen pm's and emails, but would like to get an idea on who else is planning on joining us. On last year's run, we had over 30 cars that participated in all or part of the event!
We will meet up right off I-195 at Exit 12 (see directions below) on Comfort Lane in Dartmouth, MA. There are a couple of parking lots right behind the Mobil station and the McDonalds Restaurant on Faunce Corner Road. The Kia dealership is now open, so our usual location is taken, but there are other parking lots right near it. Just look for the MG's! Let's try to meet by 10:00 am, you can have a bite at McDonalds, or the nearby Dunkin Donuts, then we'll have a laid-back driver/navigator meeting at 11:00 am and leave around 11:30 pm. The route we'll follow is about 80 miles, and stopping at the Buzzard's Bay Brewery, Sakonnet Vineyards, Gray's Ice Cream, and then returning to our starting location at around 4:30 pm. Perhaps we can then have a meal and share tales at the 99 Restaurant.
If you cannot join us for the entire run, you can meet us for any portion of the run that fits your schedule. . . or just show up at the start to kibitz.
There is NO CHARGE to join us for the group drive. After all, we're not a "club" per se, nor is this a get together that is sanctioned by any organization. We're just a group of friends out for a drive. (By joining with us, you assume responsibility for your own actions.)
Below are a couple of pics from last year's run!
Cheers,
Rick Crosby

We received some more confirmations at today's BMCNE tech session at Her Majesty's Service!
The long range forecast is still looking good, partly cloudy, temperatures in the 60's with a 0% chance of rain! (Of course, it's New England so it could change a few times.)
Cheers,
Rick

Another successful Coastal MG Tour is in the books with over 20 LBC's taking part in all or part of today's run!
Joining us today were (in alphabetical order) Scott/Rosemary (Rocketsled) with a 80 BRG MGB roadster, Roger with a 76 BRG MGB roadster, Matt/Glenn (MCARD) with a 80 White MGB roadster, Bill/Heather (heather76) with a 76 Blaze MGB roadster, myself, Rick/Jackie (oldredsel) with a 69 Grampian Grey MGB GT, Pete (pwg) with a 76 Red MGB roadster, Bill/Georgette (drhancur) with a 68 White MGB roadster, Larry (Hickster) with a 70 Red MGB roadster, Mark/Lynn (The Lock Guy) with a 79 MGB LE Black roadster, Jed/Shari (Jedster1) with a 72 BRG MGB roadster, Glenn (GMack) with a 74 Aconite MG Midget roadster, Joe/James with a 64 Red MGB roadster, Art (914efi) with a 73 Aconite MGB roadster, Lou/Vanessa (MG Unlimited) with a 80 MGB LE Black roadster, Jake with a 60 MGA Dove Grey roadster, Frank (fmotta14) with a Healey 3000 roadster, Chris (chrissinmass) with a 66 Black MGB GT, Ray (RaysB) with a 76 Blaze MGB chrome bumper conversion roadster, Dave/Nancy Sylvain (RipVanMGB) with a 72 BRG MGB roadster, and Dave (RIRaven) with a 71 Green MGB GT. Also at the start was Dave, who has an MGA that is undergoing restoration and a Triumph TR250 that visited, but didn't join us. And then later, at Sakonnet Vineyards, we met Rob (daweam) whose 71 BRG RHD MGB roadster was at home with a hinkey fuel pump. And then still later, at Gray's Ice Cream, we met "Crazy Ben" in his 29 Ford Model A Speedster (his MGB reportedly had a dead battery).
Thanks again to all who joined up with us. The camaraderie of the MG, the marque of friendship, is the main reason I put the effort into doing this run each year!
A few of my pics are below. If you have some too, please post them!
Cheers,
Rick
Pic 1 - Some of the MG's at the start.
Pic 2 - More MG's at the start.
Pic 3 - A line of MG's at Buzzards Bay Brewing micro brewery.
Pic 4 - Same line, other end.
Pic 5 - And then outside the line at Sakonnet Vineyards.
P.S. This year's run was dedicated to the memory of Joe Sabatino (jsabatino), the president of the Rhody MG's club, who participated in our inaugural Coastal MG Tour with his beautiful gold MGA. Joe passed away this past fall. RIP Joe.

Looks like a fun day. I'll be there next year for the Fourth Annual as I am moving to South Dartmouth this week. In fact my '67 MGB-GT made the move to the new house while you were having your cruise. Just too many things going on to try and fit this cruise in along with everything else.

Hi Jim,
Welcome to the 02748!
Since you're moving to Dartmouth, I'm sure we'll connect for some local rides well before next year's 4th Annual Coastal MG Tour! We have a fairly active South Coast bunch that finds some excuse for a group ride (albeit on a little smaller scale) a couple of times a month.
Cheers,
Rick

Hi Rick!
Thank you very much for organizing this run. My dad and I truly enjoyed it. We saw some great cars and met great people. And there was a beer and wine tasting involved...can't ask for a better day!
Thanks again,
Mathew
