Released in 1970. Wasn't interested in it at that time. Came across this vid a few months ago and seeing it played stoked my guitar interests.
Past 2 months have been learning to play along with this video.
The guitar player form Chicago put together some nice riffs. Through in many techniques. He didn't fear the fret board !!

Terry Kath...........Chicago guitar player.

It's about a guy up very late (25 or 26 to 4AM) working on writing a song.

Like lots or people, I'd heard the song hundreds or thousands of times, but didn't fully appreciate it (or Terry Kath) until I stumbled onto this live Chicago performance of it several months ago.

No wonder Jimi Hendrix admired Terry's playing so much!

If they said 3:34 or 3:35 AM or 25 or 26 to 4 it would have sounded awkward. It also can create a bit more interest when something is cryptic. The Beatles and Bob Dylan made careers doing that. smiling smiley

Kath's playing is fantastic. Funny thing...if you watch Angus Young (AC/DC) play, he too is animated in a style similar to Kath. Very cool...makes me want to go buy a fender strat! (Although I'm not sure what brand guitar Kath was playing...?)

Thanks for sharing the video, hadn't seen it before...liked it a lot!

One of the great groups! I really like the instrumental parts.
Tower of Power had a great horn section too.

Early CTA is a good sound. Unfortunately the group went down hill after Kath's death.

I hate it when song titles make no sense, it impacts my life profoundly. But it makes me happy being miserable dwelling on it.
