I have a possibility of getting 5) 14 x 5.5 Minitor wheels for a MGB for "the right price". I know the wheels will fit the hub. My question is will they fit within the wheel wells of my ZB Magnette? Will they hit the tie rod end. Any help would be appreciated.

Charles, will they really fit the hub. The only reason I comment is that when we picked up the "rolling" shell that is my BGT it only had 3 wheels and I tried to use the spare from my Magnette and I was informed it wouldn't fit as the pcd was different.
As the BGT now has a spare I'll try to fit it to the Magnette tomorrow to see if it can actually fit and report back.

Andrew,
Thanks. I know the offset is different between the Magnette and the MGB with the Magnette being deeper. Since the Minitor wheels are 1.5 " wider I was wondering if the wheels/tires would have interference issues with the body and steering.

We've just fit (or tried to) my 6J Minator Wheels with Dunlop Formula R road legal race rubber on them and the PCD does appear to be fine so please accept my apologies for my erroneous thoughts on that matter.
They fit okay on the rears and have adequate clearence (providing there's not much sideways axle movement) so 5.5Js with a more normal profile tyre should be fine. HOWEVER, the fronts don't fit at all as the centre hole is too small to fit over the hub in the first instance to even be able to check for any interference with the track rods.
Pics attached which hopefully show the issue.

No problem at all.
I have heard that MGA Minators fit so keep an eye out for some of those "at the right price".
Just looking at where you live "Magee", it's a close derivative of our Surname so I think I'll do a bit of digging to find out some history of your town, maybe there is a connection! :-)

You can machine the horrid lumps off the Magnette front hubs, or machine the wheel center holes bigger.
BUT, after that, there is a very good chance the tierod ends will foul the inside of the rim. I have a set of Hyundai 6x15 alloy, and they need a bit of work to clear the front hubs, but the tie rod ends foul them - just enough that the wheel will turn one direction but not the other!
Depending on the lumps, MGB Rostyles (14x5" will usually fit OK, just.

TR6 wheels are a direct fit. I'm sure the right price will show up on a set of those soon enough. Maybe get a membership on the 6-pack forum?

I have a set of wheels the same as Dominic, 15 - 5.5 rims with 185/70-15 tyres. I took them on a tarmac/gravel autosolo at the weekend and can confirm they are fine even at the extreme of travel and stress. The new wider wheels vastly improved the handling and grip without adding anything noticeable to the weight of the steering or making contact with any part of the car. I even managed to beat a couple of people this time.
